If you’ve ever bleached, colored, heat-styled or otherwise pushed your hair to the brink, chances are you’ve encountered Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector ($34) at some point. Since launching nearly a decade ago, the treatment has become something of a legend in the hair-repair world—the at-home product that helped introduce consumers to the idea that broken hair bonds could actually be rebuilt.
Now the brand is revisiting that icon. Olaplex officially unveiled No.3PLUS ($34), the next evolution of the original treatment that helped put the company (and the entire bond-building category) on the map. The new formula promises a faster, more advanced repair experience.
Like the original No.3, No.3PLUS is designed as a pre-shampoo treatment, so it’s meant to be applied before you wash your hair. But instead of sitting on your strands for 10 or 20 minutes like a traditional mask, the updated formula works in just three minutes. According to Olaplex, the treatment is designed to repair hair damage from the inside out, strengthen strands and help prevent future breakage over time.

The technology powering the formula builds on the brand’s signature patented Bond Building Technology, which reconnects disulfide bonds within the hair structure that can be broken by chemical treatments, heat styling or environmental stress. The new product also introduces a proprietary Damage Defense Cationic Complex, developed specifically to target repair at the hair’s outer cuticle layer. In other words, it’s addressing damage from multiple angles, reinforcing the hair’s inner structure while smoothing and strengthening its outer surface.
Beyond the bond-repair technology, the formula also includes a blend of conditioning ingredients designed to improve hair’s overall look and feel. A natural humectant derived from L-glutamic acid helps draw moisture into the hair to improve softness and manageability. Meanwhile, crambe abyssinica seed oil, avocado oil and sunflower seed oil work to smooth the cuticle, reduce frizz and flyaways and add a healthier-looking finish.
The brand’s testing results are impressive. In clinical studies conducted on bleached hair, Olaplex reports that No.3PLUS can reverse visible hair damage in just one use. With continued use, the brand says hair becomes three times stronger after four applications and three times softer compared to bleached hair, while the internal hair structure grows up to 75 percent stronger over time.
Of course, a big product launch wouldn’t be complete without a campaign—and Olaplex is leaning fully into its science-meets-beauty identity this time around. To debut No.3PLUS, the brand tapped Saturday Night Live cast member Chloe Fineman, who appears in the new campaign as Olaplex’s fictional Chief Hair Officer.

With No.3PLUS, the brand appears to be doing what many successful beauty companies eventually do: returning to its hero product and asking how it can make it better. For longtime fans of No.3 (or anyone whose hair could use a little structural support), the three-minute repair promise may be reason enough to pay attention.
