Louis Vuitton Launches Beauty Line With $160 Lip Balm

It’s not often that one of the greatest minds in all of beauty and one of the most legendary fashion houses in history join forces, but when it happens, you get something as larger-than-life as Louis Vuitton’s debut beauty collection, La Beauté. Today, legacy fashion brand Louis Vuitton officially enters the beauty space with the launch of its high-end, luxury makeup line Louis Vuitton La Beauté, spearheaded by makeup icon and brand founder Dame Pat McGrath.

From Taylor Swift’s go-to red lip to the internet-breaking porcelain doll runway look, Dame Pat McGrath is the mastermind behind some of the most iconic makeup looks of the last decade. Tapping the best of the best for its expansion into beauty, the luxury French fashion house appointed the British-born makeup artist to be the creative director of cosmetics for La Beauté, and the collaboration that resulted has given us some of the most artistic, luxurious makeup lines to date.

“Rooted in travel, creativity and savoir-faire, this elevated makeup line introduces a highly curated offering of the finest quality makeup, housed in objets d’art designed to be kept forever,” the brand said of its much-anticipated expansion. Highlighting beauty’s role as a lifestyle and an art form, McGrath helped curate the debut collection of luxe products to fit the brand’s legacy of luxury, design and self expression through fashion and art.

LV La Beauté Launches With 55 Lipsticks, 10 Lip Balms and 8 Eye Shadow Palettes

La Beauté’s first product drop focuses on lipsticks, balms and eye shadows, with no detail left unconsidered. The core of the collection is the brand’s 55 shades of LV Rouge Complete Lipstick ($160)—a subtle nod to both the brand’s iconic monogram and the roman numerals of the same number. Guiding the wide array of hues are three core colors: 896 Monogram Rouge (a classic red), 203 Rosé Odyssey (a sienna rose) and 854 Rouge Louis (a scarlet red), all of which feature expert craftsmanship from formula to the packaging, boasting a high-performance blend of shea butter and hyaluronic acid within the pigmented shades, guaranteeing 12 hours of vivid, long-wear color for the matte finish shades and 24 hours of comfortable, lasting wear for the satin variations.

La Beauté’s LV Baume Complete Lip Balm ($160) comes in 10 shades and “acts as a luminous sheer counterpart to the boldness of the lipstick,” the brand explains. With a lightweight, buildable formula powered by the same nourishing ingredients as the LV Rouge Complete Lipstick, the LV Baume centers around the guiding shades of 051 Monogram Touch (a “sultry burgundy brown”), 030 Tender Bliss (a soft pink with a “whisper of sparkle”) and 020 Rose Essentiel (a light rosewood tint).

Rounding out the collection with a little something chic for the eyes, the final component of Louis Vuitton’s debut beauty line is the LV Ombres Complete Eyeshadows ($250), which come in eight different colorways, each of which features three everyday shades and one out-of-the-box hue to help make artistry and expression a seamless part of your daily routine. Created with LV pigment originals, light-up technology, plant-derived squalene and camelina flower extract for seamless application and lasting wear, the LV Ombres eye shadow quads are rooted in the color palettes of Harmonie 896 Monogram Rouge (deep red and caramel hues), Harmonie 150 Beige Momento (ivory and golden hues) and Harmonie 250 Nude Mirage (neutral rosy hues).
