Inside Aylen Park and Mom’s K-Beauty Routine: Watch

Aylen Park and her mother, Sonia Lee, are a Los Angeles–based mother-daughter duo who’ve built a loyal following online for their joyful and approachable take on Korean skin care. Together, they share tutorials, product reviews and thoughtful tips that bridge traditional K-beauty wisdom with modern innovations. Recently, the pair appeared on Walmart Live and TalkShopLive to create a routine showcasing the best Korean skin care available at Walmart.

If you’re surprised Walmart has a myriad of K-beauty products, you’re not alone. Park notes that she was shocked to find the site had many of the K-beauty products she and her mom use daily. With K-beauty becoming a top trend in skin care recently, it’s important to know where to shop for accessible products.

In their routine, Park and Lee focus on hydration and barrier support. For the basics, they tend to stick to the same products because they both want hydration and soothing care. For additional steps, Lee focuses on brightening dark spots in her 50s, while Park continues her acne care in her 20s. Their top tips for 2025? It’s never too late to start. You should have fun with your skin care. And, most importantly, always apply SPF.

The Routine

The pair urges double cleansing at night, especially if you wore makeup or SPF during the day. They recommend BANILA CO Clean it Zero Pore Clarifying Cleansing Balm ($22) for the first cleanse, followed by SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule Foam ($16). Toner pads have become a viral trend within K-beauty, beloved for their gentle exfoliating benefits. Park says if you see MEDIHEAL Teatree Trouble Pads ($24), you have to get them. Lee taught Park that you could use these not only as toner pads to wipe skin but also as DIY sheet masks.

Lee notes that four generations of their family have used rice water for skin care, which is quite common in Korea. The mother-daughter duo fell in love with the texture of [I’m from] Rice Toner back in 2023, noting that the glow they get from the formula is “absolutely insane.”

[Dear Klairs] Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drops ($23) is a recent discovery for Park, who notes that it’s a great vitamin C option for anyone with sensitive skin like hers. Lee discovered SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule ($18) after a skin treatment in Korea, when experts recommended it for its soothing benefits. Park also loves the ampoule because it “does it all” and helps prep skin for makeup. For a moisturizer, Park loves the lightweight texture of MIXSOON Bean Cream ($35), which doesn’t clog her pores or irritate her sensitive skin.

Park says the newest trend in Korean skin care is “wet masking,” which involves putting on your sheet mask last to lock everything in rather than prepping the skin with the mask before your routine. They use the popular MEDIHEAL Collagen Essential Beauty Mask ($3), which comes very juicy with a surplus of serum Park calls “liquid gold.”
