GLOSS MODERNE Nouvelle Âme Fragrance Review

Some of my most favorite memories are tied to GLOSS MODERNE fragrances. They have that je ne sais quoi that makes people stop you on the street to ask what you’re wearing. There’s also something for everyone, whether you want a solar scent in the summer (Soleil is one of my top picks) or a smoky, woody sillage as cooler temperatures creep in. Right now, I’m reaching for Nouvelle Âme, which reminds me of my honeymoon in Italy—the flowers in Naples, the citrus in Positano, the grassy hills in Florence.

If you’re someone who like fruity-floral fragrances with a woody-amber drydown, this is one to try. Created by the brand’s 18th-century fragrance house in Grasse, France using “Clean Luxury” perfume oils, this is a happy, uplifting scent. The brand describes it as one that “captures the essence of tenderness enveloped by the light of springtime…a poetic bouquet of innocence—a delicate emblem of purity and joy.” Top notes are bergamot, yuzu and black currant; the heart is Lily of the Valley, floral bouquet and water notes; and the base notes are sandalwood, amber and musk.

One of my favorite things about GLOSS MODERNE is that it offers its scents in a variety of formats, from eau de parfum to roll-on perfume oil (my personal favorite) and even travel sprays with chic cases. Of course I love all the classic EDPs on my vanity, but I am very much in the phase of life where a travel spray goes with me everywhere. It’s in my purse every day and a quick spritz while I’m running errands can instantly change my mood. And if you’re new to the brand, the travel sprays are a great way to experiment with different scents before committing to a more concentrated perfume oil.
