As we get older, we tend to make changes that reflect where we are in life. We switch foundations, start using more powerful face serums and even update our hairstyles and lipstick shades. So it makes sense that the women who got breast implants in the ’90s and early 2000s are now thinking about updating those, too.
For comedian Leanne Morgan, 60, that realization came naturally. She recently shared that she had her breast implants revised, choosing a smaller size that feels right for her “grandmama era.”
“I just got them redone because I’m a grandmama now,” she shared on Today with Jenna & Friends. “I didn’t want to be in my coffin and my grandchildren see these big ol’ Pamela Anderson—love her—but I’m 60 years old, so when I got breast implants it was big.”
Morgan’s first surgery came decades ago, after having three kids. “They’re supposed to be that [10 or 15 years], but Chuck Morgan doesn’t like to spend money, so these were like 25,” Leanne said. “It was a good run and I felt good in my clothes and I felt good and I’m glad I did it. I never regretted it.”
This time, she says the decision was about proportion and comfort, not volume. “Today’s girls are more athletic looking and my girls are more athletic, more grandma,” she added.
Morgan’s refresh signals something many women are quietly embracing. As Louisville, KY plastic surgeon M. Bradley Calobrace, MD, explains, taste and proportion shift as we do. “As we age, the body changes and the look of someone in their 20s or 30s may not be the look they want in their 50s or 60s,” he says. “I tell my patients: ‘Let’s pick wisely and use the smallest implant we can use with one caveat: you have to love it. And remember, you will have to love it for many, many years. Choose wisely.
For many women, that is the point. It is not about going smaller because it’s trending. It is about choosing what feels comfortable, confident and right for right now.
