Fashion Week Beauty Trends You Can Actually Recreate at Home

Nordstrom’s National Beauty Director Autumne West has a solid list of standout beauty moments from New York Fashion Week, but also understands what shines on the runway doesn’t alway work in real life. “This season’s beauty trends are all about restraint and refinement,” says West. “It’s less about transformation and more about enhancement—products that work with your skin, not against it. At Nordstrom, we’re seeing customers gravitate toward this approach: thoughtful textures, wearable tones and beauty that feels elevated but effortless.” Here’s her best advice for taking the trends from backstage to the bathroom counters.

Beauty, Refined

This season, beauty felt more refined, West says. “Less about glow, more about texture. I loved the return of satin and velvet skin finishes. It’s a shift away from high-shine radiance toward a more balanced complexion: softly mattified but still infused with skincare for a natural luminosity. Eyeshadow made a quiet comeback, too—diffused smoky tones, airy mattes and blurred edges that felt effortless and modern. And lips were soft, yet noticeable with creamy pink nudes leading the way.”

Satin Skin Remains a Staple

For that satin-skin finish, West says Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation ($69) remains a staple. “It gives coverage without masking the skin. Layer it with MAC Strobe Dewy Skin Tint ($38) for a hint of hydration and glow where you want it. To recreate the diffused eye look, NARS Eyeshadow Stick ($34), NARS Quad Eyeshadow Palette ($55) and Sisley-Paris Phyto-Ombre ($67) offer buildable pigment in muted tones that blend beautifully. For cheeks, Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick ($48) or Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Blush Sticks ($42) gives that soft-focus flush. And for lips, Bobbi Brown Luxe Cashmere Matte Lipstick ($45) or Laura Mercier Caviar Hydra-Creme Lipstick ($45) in creamy nude and mauvy pink shades that are perfect for that understated finish.”

Matte Makes a Comeback

Mattification is quietly returning, according to West, but it’s not the flat matte of years past. “It’s more about controlling shine while keeping skin looking alive. Think velvet textures, softly powdered T-zones, and strategic highlighting that mimics healthy skin rather than shimmer.”

Spotlight on Shadow

Eyeshadow is re-emerging, but in a very wearable and still subtle way. “Expect to see more blurred washes of color in matte: taupes, pinks, grays and soft browns applied with a brush for powder or fingertip for shadow sticks to get a hazy, undone effect,” says West. “It’s a nod to artistry without the rigidity of hard lines or cut creases. Both comeback and emerging trends are still an ongoing nod to the ’90s, but we are not full grunge yet.”

Soft Lips Are an Easy Look

West say soft, full lips are incredibly easy to achieve and instantly elevate a look. “A creamy nude or balm like lipstick like Pat McGrath’s Dramatique Mega Lip Pencil ($29) or Tom Ford Fabulous Lip Color Lipstick ($62), both glide on and look smooth and have great staying power without any drying of the lips.”
